Why This Matters
Menopause Is Not an Ending. It Is a New Physiology.

It reaches into hormones, bones, metabolism, sleep, mood, the heart and the nervous system — yet it remains one of the least understood life stages in yoga education.

1.2 Billion

women worldwide will be menopausal or postmenopausal by 2030 — an estimated 50 million reaching menopause every year.

Source: World Health Organization

Most yoga teacher trainings prepare teachers for younger women — not for women moving through menopause. It's covered in an afternoon, if at all, so teachers graduate without the grounding they need for one of the biggest hormonal transitions a woman goes through.

This training closes that gap. You'll study the science first — Hormonal Physiology, Bone Health, Pelvic Floor Changes and Nervous System Regulation — then learn to apply it: Sleep & Recovery, Cardiovascular Health, Safe Asana Adaptations and Breathwork. Every module is built on Evidence-Informed Teaching and real Clinical Decision-Making, not guesswork.

Graduates don't just memorise a list of "safe poses." They understand why the body changes through Perimenopause, Menopause and Postmenopause — so they can adapt with confidence for the woman in front of them, instead of leaning on a generic sequence.

Who Can Enrol

Ideal For

  • Yoga Teachers / Yoga Therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Fitness Professionals
  • Pilates Instructors
  • Nutritionists
  • Health Coaches

Also Suitable For

Women experiencing Perimenopause or Menopause who have maintained a regular yoga practice for at least six months are also welcome to join. If you want to better understand your changing body, hormones and yoga practice — not necessarily to teach, but to support your own health — this programme is designed for you.

This is an advanced training, so we do not teach basic asanas. Participants should already have a strong foundation in yoga practice before joining.

Professional Outcomes

  • Distinguish perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause as distinct life stages

  • Adapt practice for fluctuating energy, sleep and stress

  • Explain cortisol, arousal and symptom amplification
  • Select breath practices for down-regulation
  • Sequence restorative yoga and yoga nidra for recovery
04Bone, Muscle and Metabolic Health

Understand changes in bone density, muscle mass, strength and metabolism during midlife, and how yoga should evolve accordingly.

  • Recognise osteopenia, osteoporosis and fracture-risk factors
  • Address sarcopenia and the case for strength work
  • Apply safe loading, balance and functional movement principles
05Pelvic Floor and Core Function

You will be able to

  • Recognise pelvic-floor overactivity, weakness and poor coordination
  • Teach breath-pressure management and deep-core function
  • Know prolapse and continence referral boundaries
06Therapeutic Asana and Movement Adaptation

Adapt asana and movement for joint health, strength, mobility, balance, fatigue and symptom variability.

You will be able to

  • Reconsider commonly taught "safe" menopause poses
  • Adapt forward bends, twists, inversions and weight-bearing work
  • Use props, pacing and progression with clinical reasoning

  • Select pranayama according to nervous-system state
  • Apply cooling practices appropriately
  • Avoid overstimulation and inappropriate breath prescriptions

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this for women going through menopause, or for teachers and practitioners?
This is a professional specialisation for yoga teachers, yoga therapists and other health and wellness professionals who want to teach or work with women through menopause — it is not a personal wellness programme. If you are looking for personal support with your own menopause symptoms, see our Peri-Menopause & Menopause Wellness Programme instead.
Do I need to already be a certified yoga teacher?
Most participants are certified yoga teachers, but yoga therapists, doctors, physiotherapists, nutritionists and health coaches with a movement or wellness background are also well placed to complete this training within their own scope of practice.
What are the prerequisites?
There is no formal prerequisite exam, but the training assumes a working background in yoga teaching, yoga therapy or a related health profession. It is not intended as a first yoga teacher training.
Is this suitable if I've never taught menopause content before?
Yes. The training begins with hormonal physiology and builds from there, so no prior specialisation in menopause, hormone science or anatomy is assumed.
How does the 120-day access work?
You receive 120 days of access from your date of enrolment to complete all 50 hours at your own pace, in whatever order suits your schedule. This is a self-paced online training — there are no fixed batch dates or live sessions to attend.
What certification do I receive?
On completing the required coursework and assessments within your access window, you receive Yoga Alliance YACEP continuing education hours.
How many hours a week should I expect to study?
Most trainees comfortably complete the 50 hours within 120 days by studying roughly 4 to 6 hours a week, though you are free to move faster or slower.
How is the course assessed?
Through applied sequencing assignments after each module and a final teaching practicum in which you plan and reflect on a class for this population.
Can I complete this alongside teaching or clinical work?
Yes. The self-paced format is designed to fit around an existing teaching or clinical practice, with no scheduled live sessions to attend.
Will this qualify me to treat medical conditions?
No. This training builds specialised teaching and sequencing skill for yoga professionals. It is not a substitute for medical training and does not qualify you to diagnose or treat medical conditions — you'll also learn where your scope ends and when to refer a student to her doctor.
Is this training recognised outside India?
Yes. Yoga Alliance is an international credentialing body, and this training is open to and taken by students worldwide. All content is delivered in English.
What does the course cost?
€110, which includes all course materials and your Yoga Alliance YACEP certification hours.
How do I enrol?
Submit an enquiry with a few details about your background and our team will confirm access and next steps within 24 hours.
